Happy Birthday Carter!

Okay, so I'm a few days late but better late than never, right?! Carter turned 1 on Monday, December 4th! I cannot believe it's already been a year since our sweet boy joined our family! Thank you, Lord, for our little man! We celebrated his birthday by having dinner with Justin's family, eating cake and opening presents! I made Carter a cupcake and decorated the top like a baseball. At first he just picked at it and ate very small pieces. Once he was full, the real fun began. He started smashing the cake and smearing it EVERYWHERE! It was quite fun! After a quick bath it was time to open presents. At first he wasn't interested in anything except a new ball his NaNaw got him. Then Justin and I showed him the big yellow Tonka dump truck we bought for him. He LOVES it! He insists on crawling up and sitting in the back of it. It's pretty cute to watch him struggle to get up in the back of the truck and then wiggle around until he gets good and comfortable. Justin made the "mistake" or pushing him around the house while he sat in the back of his Tonka truck and now that's all he wants to do! He is also enjoying a new car his NaNaw and PawPaw got for him. He pushes it all around the living room making "car noises." It never ceases to amaze me that even at 12 months old, he is "all boy." God really does hardwire us differently, as males and females, and it's fun to see those differences already emerging in our little one. He truly is "fearfully and wonderfully made!"
Carter is pulling up on furniture and "cruising" around. I expect him to let go and take his first steps any day now. He's very curious and gets in to everything! His favorite "job" is helping mommy unload the dishwasher. He pulls up on the side of the dishwasher and removes the utensils, one at a time, and hands them to me.
I'm feeling a little bit better these days. I still haven't gotten my energy back yet but I'm hoping that I will be back to normal within the next few weeks. I have a doctor appointment on Monday and Lord willing, we should get to hear the heartbeat!
That's about all for us right now. More to come, I'm sure...
