It's a beautiful day!

Okay, it's a beautiful day, but not in the weather sense (it's 8:30am and it's already 80 degrees). It's a beautiful day because it's payday. It's a beautiful day because it's almost the weekend. And, it's a beautiful day because today is the last day of school! I am beyond ecstatic! I can't wait to start spending my summer with my boy! I do have to come to work tomorrow but only for breakfast, then I'm going to get a pedicure with some friends, then I'm outta here! Justin, Carter, and I will be leaving (Lord willing) for New Mexico on Saturday. I can't wait to spend some time with my family.
Justin is doing great. He's working really hard, and that work is starting to pay off. I'm so proud of him.
Carter is just as precious as ever. He's started this new thing. In the morning when I go to pick him up out of his crib, he bursts into this huge smile and when I actually pick him up, he wraps his little arms around my neck and hugs me tight. It absolutely makes me melt into a huge puddle on the ground. I am just head over heals for this boy.

Tumultuous Night Sleep

I was a little tired last night so we decided to go to bed early and try to get a good nights sleep. What a surprise we were in for. Here's a little run down of the night:
9:00pm - We're in bed and I think I was asleep as soon as my head hit the pillow.
9:30pm - Phone rings. It was a pregnant friend updating me on her doctors appointment. We didn't answer it.
11:00pm - The carbon monoxide detector is going off because the battery is low. Justin gets up and takes the battery out, checks on Carter, then we're back to sleep.
3:00am - Carter's crying. I think he may be going through a little growth spurt, so I feed him then put him back to bed.
5:00am - Carter's crying again. I feed him again, then it's back to sleep.
6:00am - The alarm's going off. It's up and at 'em.

On a more positive note, we're having the house sprayed for bugs today. I'm so glad. We usually get it sprayed every 6 months but it's been more like 8 months since we had it done last and we've been seeing a lot of roaches. I absolutely detest roaches!!! I'm not really sure why I moved to Texas since I hate them so much. Thankfully I live with a fearless bug killer, Justin. We have a nice little arrangement; he takes care of all the bugs and I take care of all the poopy diapers. It works well for us.

On an even better note, I only have 8 more days of school until the summer break. I am so excited to be home with my little man everyday. We are going to visit my parents in New Mexico the day after I get out of school. My dad, brothers, and one of my sisters haven't seen Carter since he was 5 weeks old so I'm looking forward to them getting to play with him. He's at such a fun age. He loves to laugh, play, and practice sitting up. He really is such a good baby. We are so blessed.

I'm still here
Wow! I've been really delinquent when it comes to blogging! Things have been pretty busy for us lately.
Yesterday was Justin's 26th birthday. We went out to dinner with his family and then everyone came to our house for cheesecake. It sure was fun to have a day to celebrate my sweet husband. I'm so blessed!
School is winding down for the year. Yay!!! We have about 3 1/2 weeks left. I am so excited to have the summer off with my son. Justin and I have always desired for me to be a stay-at-home mom, but because of the timing of the pregnancy and Justin's job situation, I had to go back to work when Carter was 7 weeks old. It absolutely breaks my heart everyday as I leave him to go to work. We are praying that Justin's business will be established enough by this fall that I won't have to go back to work. Please join us in praying for that!
In Carter news... we attempted to feed him solid foods this week. We bought him a highchair and now we're trying to feed him some rice cereal every night. It is interesting. I think he really likes the taste of the cereal but he's not quite sure how to eat it. Every time I offer a spoonful, he moves towards the spoon but instead of opening his mouth, he puckers his lips. He looks like he's trying to kiss the food instead of eat it. When I try to show him how to open his mouth, by opening mine, he just laughs at me. When I finally get some cereal in his mouth, most of it comes back out as he's trying to swallow. I think he is actually swallowing a little bit but most of it's coming back out. We'll keep plugging away and I have not doubt that with parents like us, he'll be a champion eater in no time! :-)
