Houston, we have a crawler!!

One of the things that I have really struggled with when I think of having to work right now is that there's a good chance I will miss some of Carter's "firsts." You know, first time sitting up, first time crawling, first words, first steps, etc. Yesterday as I was driving home from work to pick Carter up from my mother-in-law's house, a thought popped into my head. I thought, "One day very soon I'm going to go pick Carter up and they will tell me how he crawled for the first time that day. And even though I will be so sad that I missed one of his 'firsts,' I have to hold it together and not burst into tears right there. I can cry later, I just can't cry right then. " A few moments later, I walked into Justin's mom's house and she tells me that Carter was really trying to crawl all day long. I put Carter down on the floor, backed away from him, and he crawled right to me! I couldn't believe it! Justin's mom said that was the first time that he had crawled forward! I was ecstatic! How precious that my little boy had waited until I got home from work so that I could be there to witness one of his "firsts." It brings tears to my eyes now as I think of God's loving kindness to me. It may seem like a small thing to see your son crawl for the first time, but to a mom, it's a big deal. And I am so amazed that God cares so much for me that He would coordinate the timing so that I got to be there to see my son crawl for the first time. Thank you, Lord, for caring about even the smallest of details of our lives!

The Best of Intentions
So, here we are - August 9th, 2006 and I haven't been on my blog since late May. It's pathetic, I know. I had every intention of blogging more faithfully while I was home for the summer but some how the summer just flew by without me blogging at all. So, here's a little update on us:
  • Carter is now 8 months old and is still the light of our lives. He's sitting up like a champ and I think he's trying to learn how to pull up and/or crawl. He doesn't quite have the hang of it yet but I'm sure he will in no time. I'm trying to enjoy my last few days/weeks of immobility. I know that once Carter becomes more mobile my life will get a whole lot busier! He got six teeth over the summer. Thankfully, most of them came in without too much trouble but the last two he got were kind of rough. He was cranky and didn't sleep well for about a week but, once the teeth broke the skin he was much happier.
  • Justin is working away. His business is doing pretty well, and between that and yardwork he stays pretty busy. Can I take a minute to brag on my husband?? Justin is such a hard worker. He's almost always busy working on something and he never complains! We just celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary, and let me tell you, I love that man more today than ever. I'm amazed at how much we've grown and how much God has taught us and brought us through over the last 4 years!
  • Okay, enough sappy stuff. I'm back at work this week. We were really hoping that I would be able to stay home with Carter after this summer but we just couldn't do it financially. So, I'm back at work for now. I do have lots to be thankful for though. 1. I really do have a great job. If I have to work, it's the best job I could possibly have. Great hours, good pay, and great people to work with. 2. Justin's mom watches Carter for us while we're at work. It's hard enough leaving him as it is, I can't imagine dropping him off at daycare everyday! 3. Justin and I are in agreement that I need to stay home as soon as possible. I know there are lots of women out there who would love to stay home, but their husbands won't let them because they want the luxuries a dual income provides. I'm so thankful my husband sees the value of a stay-at-home mom and is working as hard as he can to make that a reality for our family!
  • I have a pesky case of tendonitis in my left wrist. I'm waiting on the doctor to tell me what we need to do. In the meantime, I'm a little bit limited in my activities. I never realized just how much we use our wrists until I couldn't use mine without a lot of pain.

Well, I should probably quit for now. More later...
